Dakota 'NB taxies in after arriving from the Channel Islands.  This aircraft flew with the RAF in WW2 as FD789 and is the oldest surviving Dakota to serve with the RAF.  Constructed at Long Beach, California in 1942 as USAAF 42-32817 it arrived in the UK for the RAF in April 1943.  Retired from military service in 1946 it was 'civilianised' by Scottish Aviation at Prestwick in 1947 and flew in Burma as XY-CAN until 1950 when it was bought by BEA and registered as G-AKNB. In 1959 it was sold to Silver City Airways and subsequently British United Airways before going to Intra in 1969 until 1978.  Preserved in the UK from 1982 and moved to the USA in 1994.
